• Beginning Again

Sunny’s challenge was finding a TOEFL resource that was the right fit for her. The TOEFL was the only English test that she had to take. So, she wanted to get it over with quickly. She took her NCLEX in September 2019 in a center near London. And as soon as she found out that she passed, she signed up to take her first TOEFL on the 26th of October.

She began her journey on the 26th of September and studied for about 3 weeks.

She started out by searching online for TOEFL prep resources. When she asked for advice in a Facebook group, they told her that NoteFull was the way to go. Around that same time, she found some other TOEFL resources through Google.

Sunny signed up with them and started going through their coursework. But she quickly found that it wasn’t her style. It wasn’t bad by any means. She was able to go through their videos and learn some techniques. But there was no personal touch. And they didn’t give her the motivation she needed. It simply just didn’t work very well for her…

  • Finding Help

So, she turned to NoteFull’s Complete TOEFL Mastery program and ESL Power to strengthen her vocabulary skills. She spent the remaining time before her test working hard to learn as much from it as she could.

The screening process to become an RN in the United States required that she get an overall score of 83 with a 26 in the speaking section.

On October 26th, she got her results back and saw that she scored an 83! But unfortunately, she wasn’t able to hit the 26 she needed in the speaking.

In fact, that was the section she struggled with the most. Having to answer within the time limit was very stressful for her. It made it hard to think clearly and craft a well-worded answer.

After her first test, she had only planned to take the TOEFL 1 more time on the 1st of December. But as the deadline approached, she started to doubt whether or not she’d be able to pass on her next try. So, she signed up to take the test 2 more times in December.

Despite her doubts, Sunny put all her effort into getting better. She studied the Complete TOEFL Mastery program even more to memorize the techniques.

Every time she worked with NoteFull she was taught to take a deep breath and say, “I CAN DO THIS.” The deep breaths helped her to relax. And she loved the inspiration she received. It gave her confidence and made her feel better about her TOEFL journey.

The strategies she learned helped her improve in every section. And she started taking speaking classes with NoteFull from November to December.

But it still wasn’t enough. Sunny failed the TOEFL 2 more times in early December…

It was incredibly stressful for her. She was devoting so much time to the TOEFL and not seeing results. The staff at her testing center started to recognize her because she went there so many times that month…

She had every reason to call it quits. She easily could’ve given up and stayed working as a nurse in Germany.

But it wasn’t over. Sunny wasn’t going to quit until she got her score!

After her 3rd attempt, she joined our Small Group Tutoring Classes from December 16-19th. She worked with us for 2 hours a day, striving for her dream scores…

  • On Their Way

And on December 21st, Sunny’s dream came true! She scored a total of 88 with her dream score of 26 in the speaking section!

“Thanks to God and thanks to NoteFull. I’m stress free, you know? I don’t feel so stressed anymore. I just have more free time for myself and can do whatever I want.”

Where is she now, you ask? Sunny is still in Germany working as a nurse while waiting for her work VISA application to go through. She says that it will be about a year and a half before that happens. Then she’ll be able to come back to the United States and get her dream job! Not to mention see her old friends again!

Congrats, Sunny! You earned it! And you deserve all the success in the world 🙂

Here are her parting words of advice to you:

“Never give up. I know exactly what they are going through because I was exactly at that point. It’s not over until you reach your score. No matter how many times you fail the test, you have to keep moving forward through the pain. Keep moving forward. No pain no gain.”
