Beginning Again

As many of you know, the pharmacy board calls for certain scores in each section of the TOEFL, which meant Shachee had her work cut out for her. This was her challenge…

Finding Help

At first, she started studying using the official TOEFL guide by ETS. But she soon found NoteFull thanks to the help of a friend.

She signed up for our Complete TOEFL Mastery self-study program, and studied hard for a full year. She took the TOEFL a total of 8 times over the course of that year, but wasn’t able to get the scores she needed.

As you can imagine, taking the TOEFL that many times and not getting her dream scores was incredibly hard for her. But she didn’t give up!

To become a pharmacist, Shachee needed to get these scores: R22, L21, S26, W24. By late 2016, her most recent scores were: R15, L20, S23, W17. She knew she was going to need more help if she wanted to reach her dream scores. So she decided to sign up for One-on-One Tutoring sessions with Nayyer. 

Working hard through 12 tutoring sessions, she was able to greatly improve her English skills. When she tried taking the TOEFL again, her scores shot up! Her total score went from a 75 to an 88. But she still wasn’t able to reach the required scores she needed in each section.

That’s when Shachee started to take advantage of our Reviewing process. Over the next 6 months, she sent us example essays and her questions about the test. We reviewed her answers for her and helped to clear up any questions she had. Giving her encouragement every step of the way.

She took the TOEFL a couple more times during this period and was able to reach her goal writing score. But she couldn’t quite get the speaking and reading scores she needed.

In October of 2017, she joined a 3-month Online Group Class taught by Joseph that covered each section of the test. Coupled with more group classes in February of 2018, she felt she was ready to take the TOEFL again. 

Thankfully, she was able to get her goal scores in reading, writing, and listening. But her speaking score was stuck at a 22. 

After another tutoring session with Nayyer, she was finally able to get her dream speaking score of 26! But, her scores in the other sections fell short.

She was able to get her goal scores on all 3 of the other sections on her previous attempt. But this time she was only able to pass the speaking section. Imagine the frustration she must’ve felt! 

On top of that, in July of 2018 she tried again. This time, it was her reading score that kept her from passing. After all her hard work. After 3 YEARS of studying and taking course after course. After taking the TOEFL over 10 times. She STILL wasn’t able to succeed.

At this point, most students would’ve given up. But Shachee stayed strong and kept pushing!

Taking everything she learned from NoteFull, she studied as hard as she could for another 8 months…

On Their Way

Until finally, at the end of March 2019…On her 13th TOEFL attempt…Shachee FINALLY got her dream scores! She even scored 1 point higher than she needed to on the speaking section…

“NoteFull works 100% believe me!! Since I have been struggling to get my dream scores for years and gave TOEFL exams many times. And for people who have enough time to study for the TOEFL, they can do all four sections each day. Use a timer and score yourself in all sections. Also, remember that Joseph always says COMPREHENSION FIRST, STRATEGY SECOND. For the speaking and writing, CONNECTION is important. Speak with native speakers as much as possible as that will improve pronunciation and intonation which are important for a higher score.”

What an incredible journey…Nearly 4 years of hard work and dedication. Shachee, you are living proof that if you work hard enough and believe in yourself, you WILL succeed. And we can’t congratulate you enough! We wish you the best at your Pharmacy Internship!
