JANUARY 2015 – GRADUATE SCHOOL.
For the first Student of the Month of 2015 we are happy to be honoring Dmitry K.!
Dmitry is a Chemistry graduate student from Russia. He was accepted into the University of Denver after earning an 86 on the TOEFL.
But that score wouldn’t hold out for very long…
See, Dmitry was awarded the Dean’s Doctoral Fellowship. That meant he was required to teach during his 2nd year of graduate school. The only problem was that if he wanted to be a Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA), his challenge would be to score higher in ALL sections of the TOEFL. Especially in the Speaking where he would need to raise his score by 6 points! And he didn’t have much time to lose…
He tried taking the TOEFL another 2 times this past spring. But the highest he could score in the Speaking (on BOTH attempts) was a 23. He struggled throughout the summer months making no real progress.
After much thought, he finally decided to join NoteFull…
He found his TOEFL solution in the 6-Step Speaking + Tutoring + Review package. By the time the fall semester started, he was well on his way to reaching that 26. But it wasn’t exactly a walk in the park…
Dmitry had to juggle his TOEFL studies with working as a research assistant in the Chemistry lab. The only time he could find to study was in the evenings after work when he was already worn out from a long day. But he only had 3 months left to study. So he had to do it.
He studied 3 days a week for 6-8 hours. No matter how busy his day was. No matter how tired he felt. He had a dream and he wasn’t going to stop until he achieved it!
He felt a little confused about how to continue his studies with NoteFull. So he sent an email to our Student Help team.
“…the instructors cleared everything up. They were guiding me through the entire studying process, which was extremely helpful.”
Whenever he was feeling stuck or like he needed extra help, Dmitry reached out to his Notefull instructors. We encourage every one of our students to ask for help when they need it. Our student help team is always happy to answer any questions you may have to help clear the path to your dream scores.
He took full advantage of the tutoring sessions and reviews. They were incredibly helpful to him.
“Tutoring sessions and reviews really boosted my progress, because NoteFull instructors told me exactly what to do in order to improve as quickly as possible… They always answered every single question, so I did not feel alone.”
Time was running out. But he had worked hard and improved greatly since he started. After 4 tutoring sessions and a couple reviews, Dmitry got the news he was looking for…
On Their Way
Dmitry was so happy when he got the results of his final TOEFL attempt. He had scored a 104! Now he could finally forget about the TOEFL and put all of his focus into Chemistry!
You did an amazing job, Dmitry! We know you have a bright future ahead of you!
Here is Dmitry’s advice to you:
“I would like to tell all the students who are preparing for the TOEFL that NoteFull is the best tool for you. If you learn all the strategies, and write or talk to the instructors every time you are stuck, you will definitely succeed. This indeed works! Good luck!”Reading: 27, Listening: 26, Speaking: 27, Writing: 24
