NoteFull's Student of the Month for January 2015  back to top

NoteNoteFull is very excited to introduce the first Student of the Month of 2015, Dmitry Kuznetsov, a first-year graduate student from Russia!

How a Chemistry student started out his TOEFL path:

Dmitry was accepted at the University of Denver (DU) after having surpassed the minimum TOEFL score requirement (80) with a TOEFL score of 86.

However, because he was awarded the Dean's Doctoral Fellowship, he would be required to teach in his second year. The trouble was that in order to qualify for a Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) position in the Chemistry Departments at DU, Dmitry needed to earn higher  scores in all TOEFL sections, but even more specifically, in Speaking. He needed to boost his original Speaking score of 20 to 26, and he needed to act fast.

He retook the TOEFL two times this past spring, but in both exams, he earned a 23--still 3 points away from his goal. So, at the end of the summer, after much consideration, he decided to sign-up with NoteFull, where he registered for the 6-step Speaking + Tutoring + Review system. When the fall semester started, he began studying with a new focus, inching closer to that 26.

Dmitry's methods and strategies for success:

It was challenging for him to make time to study because he was trying to study and work in the lab as a research assistant. He remembers that, "The only time available for me to study was in the evenings, when I was quite tired after work."

But in the last three months, he kept studying, at least three days a week, for about 6-8 hours, "irrespective of how busy I was."

At first, Dmitry also felt a bit confused about moving forward with his NoteFull program and studies. So, he immediately sent an email to NoteFull Student Help. He states, "the instructors cleared everything up. They were guiding me through the entire studying process, which was extremely helpful."

During the moments when Dmitry did not feel like he was progressing he always emailed NoteFull instructors for help. In addition, he used both tutoring and reviews, which were also "incredibly helpful." Dmitry says that, "Tutoring sessions and reviews really boosted my progress, because NoteFull instructors told me exactly what to do in order to improve as quickly as possible... They always answered every single question, so I did not feel alone."

What success feels like:

Then after about four tutoring sessions and two reviews, Dmitry took the test and got the news he was waiting for.

Finally, success! Dmitry's last and final TOEFL scores were R 27, L 26, S 27, W 24, earning him a total score of 104!

Dmitry says that when he saw his scores, he was so happy. He knows now that  he " can finally forget about TOEFL and focus on chemistry!"

Dmitry's final words to you:

"I would like to tell all the students who are preparing for the TOEFL that NoteFull is the best tool for you.  If you learn all the strategies, and write or talk to the instructors every time you are stuck, you will definitely succeed.  This indeed works!  Good luck!"
